New York: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has underscored the significant investment opportunities available in Pakistan across sectors including agriculture, mines and minerals, information technology, artificial intelligence, and ports and shipping. Speaking to delegations from the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) and the US-Pakistan Business Council (USPBC) in New York, the Prime Minister highlighted the stability and growth trajectory of Pakistan’s economy, attributing it to comprehensive structural reforms and efforts to digitize the economy.
According to Radio Pakistan, Sharif emphasized the potential to enhance agricultural production through modern technology and machinery, noting the country’s abundant natural resources. He highlighted the government’s initiatives to empower the young population through IT and AI-led programs and vocational training. Additionally, the Prime Minister noted the improvement in Pakistan-US relations and expressed hopes for achieving long-term regional peace, which he deemed essential for fostering business activities and investment.
Both the USPBC and BCIU affirmed their commitment to maintaining close engagement with the Pakistani government and private sector, acknowledging the country’s market size and youthful workforce as significant attractions for US businesses. In their discussions, the councils briefed Sharif on their business interests and plans to expand their presence in Pakistan.
