Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended Norway’s recent decision to recognize the State of Palestine during a productive phone conversation with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store. The dialogue between the two leaders also covered the latest International Court of Justice ruling, which orders Israel to cease its operations in Gaza and Rafah.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, both leaders reaffirmed their support for the United Nations-backed two-state solution as the pathway to enduring peace in the Middle East. Sharif expressed hope that Norway’s stance, along with similar positions from Spain and Ireland, would inspire more nations to recognize Palestinian statehood.
He also highlighted the parallel struggles of the Kashmiri people, urging the international community to address their long-standing issues with the same vigor. The conversation also touched on strengthening Pakistan-Norway relations, particularly in trade and investment, and acknowledged the significant role of the Pakistani diaspora in Norway as pivotal to bilateral ties. Sharif extended an invitation to Store for an official visit to Pakistan.
