Prime Minister Sharif Discusses Regional Tensions with Iranian President


Lahore: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with H.E. Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, where they exchanged greetings and discussed regional hostilities.



According to Press Information Department, the Prime Minister extended Eid ul Fitr and Nowruz greetings to the Iranian President and the people of Iran. The Iranian President reciprocated the sentiments and conveyed his best wishes for the people of Pakistan. As a neighboring country, the Prime Minister expressed solidarity with Iran amid ongoing hostilities, offering condolences for the loss of lives and wishing for the recovery of the injured and displaced.



The Prime Minister voiced concern over the hostilities in the Gulf region, emphasizing the need for collective efforts towards de-escalation and dialogue among neighboring countries. He highlighted the importance of unity within the Islamic community. During the call, the Prime Minister assured the Iranian leadership of Pakistan’s commitment to playing a role in facilitating regional peace through diplomatic outreach efforts.
