Prime Minister Sharif Directs Swift Transfer of Pak-PWD Projects to Provinces

Lahore: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has mandated the swift formulation of a final plan for the transfer of ongoing projects managed by the Pakistan Public Works Department (Pak-PWD) to provincial authorities and relevant departments. This directive was issued during a review meeting focused on the dissolution of Pak-PWD, as part of broader administrative reforms.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Sharif underscored that the severance packages for outgoing Pak-PWD employees are exclusively for those without proven corruption charges. He emphasized the importance of clean governance and integrity within the transitioning process and denied financial benefits to any staff implicated in corruption.

Further directives from Prime Minister Sharif included the submission of final proposals on Pak-PWD’s dissolution to the Cabinet for approval. He also approved an age relaxation policy aimed at facilitating the re-employment of diligent and honest employees who served Pak-PWD for a short duration, ensuring their expertise is retained within the governmental framework.

The meeting included a comprehensive briefing on the legal and practical aspects of dissolving Pak-PWD, signaling the government’s commitment to a streamlined and efficient transition to provincial control.
