Baku: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Baku on Sunday, marking the beginning of a two-day official visit aimed at strengthening ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. During his stay, he is slated to engage in high-level meetings with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and other senior officials to discuss key areas of bilateral cooperation.
According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Sharif was received at Heydar Aliyev International Airport by a delegation of senior Azerbaijani officials, including First Deputy Prime Minister Yaqub Abdulla oglu Eyyubov and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yalchin Rafiyev. This visit signifies a continued commitment to enhancing bilateral relations through discussions on trade, investment, energy cooperation, and defense collaboration.
The visit is expected to include the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements, which will lay the groundwork for future partnerships. These agreements are anticipated to focus on expanding trade and investment, addressing climate change, and fostering cultural exchanges.
A key highlight of the visit will be the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Business Forum scheduled for Monday. The forum is designed to facilitate business-to-business collaboration by bringing together business leaders from both nations to explore opportunities for joint ventures and trade.
The Prime Minister is accompanied by a high-level ministerial delegation, comprising Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, along with several other ministers and special assistants. The visit underscores the mutual commitment of Pakistan and Azerbaijan to deepen their longstanding relationship and enhance regional cooperation.
