Prime Minister Sharif Announces Solar Energy Transition for Balochistan’s Agricultural Tubewells

Quetta, Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif chaired a meeting focused on transitioning Balochistan’s agricultural tubewells to solar energy, promising a dedicated visit to the region to oversee the project’s progress.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Sharif emphasized the need for swift allocation of funds, announcing that 40 billion rupees would be released to expedite the energy transition. This initiative is seen as crucial for providing reliable electricity to local landlords and reducing the province’s dependency on the conventional power supply from Kisco, which could also decrease the associated circular debt.

The meeting, which was also attended by notable officials including Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, underscored the national government’s commitment to addressing Balochistan’s energy and agricultural challenges. Sharif reiterated his dedication to launching projects that directly benefit the provincial populace and alleviate longstanding issues.
