Prime Minister Sharif and German Minister Schulze Discuss Enhancing Bilateral Ties and Economic Cooperation


Islamabad: In a significant diplomatic engagement at the Prime Minister’s House, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Ms. Svenja Schulze, to discuss ways to deepen economic and trade relations between Pakistan and Germany.



According to Press Information Department, Prime Minister Sharif expressed appreciation for Germany’s historical support in Pakistan’s socioeconomic sectors and conveyed a keen interest in revitalizing the Pakistan-Germany partnership to its former strength. He highlighted Pakistan’s initiatives towards sustainable development and economic reform, emphasizing the nation’s focus on climate change mitigation and economic growth.



Minister Schulze, conveying greetings from Chancellor Olaf Scholz, reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to bolstering bilateral relations, with a particular focus on enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, and development. She highlighted Germany’s interest in supporting Pakistan’s renewable energy sector and climate resilience efforts. The discussions also covered broader topics including global regional issues and the potential for increased collaboration in IT and skilled labor exports.



The meeting also saw an invitation extended to Prime Minister Sharif to attend the upcoming Hamburg Sustainability Conference, underscoring the mutual interest in furthering dialogue on key global challenges like sustainability and climate change.
