Prime Minister Reaffirms Pakistan’s Commitment to Polio Eradication on World Polio Day


Islamabad: On World Polio Day, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif renewed Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating polio, highlighting the nation’s dedication to ensuring that no child is affected by the preventable disease. In a message delivered today, the Prime Minister called for continued public support to achieve a polio-free Pakistan, acknowledging the critical work of health workers and international partners in reducing polio cases nationwide.



According to Press Information Department, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized ongoing efforts to overcome challenges such as security concerns, misinformation, and limited access to remote areas. He outlined Pakistan’s National Emergency Action Plan, which aims to improve health infrastructure, boost vaccine coverage, and address misinformation surrounding polio vaccinations. Sharif also highlighted the importance of regional cooperation with Afghanistan in combating cross-border transmission.



The Prime Minister called on parents and community leaders to actively support vaccination efforts, stressing that eradicating polio is integral to building a resilient public health system for future generations. “Together, with the support of our citizens and global partners, we will achieve this goal,” he stated, underscoring Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to a polio-free future.
