Islamabad, December 26, 2022 (PPI-OT):Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed government’s commitment for rehabilitation and uplift of flood-affected areas of the country, including Dera Ismail Khan and Tank. Addressing a ceremony in Dera Ismail Khan on Monday, he said that government has distributed 90 billion rupees among the flood-hit people and provided them relief items.
He said that climate change has badly affected Pakistan despite its negligible contribution in the global warming. He said that this issue will be raised in donors’ conference to be held in Geneva. He said that due to bad governance of KP government recent rains and flood caused damage to a large area which could have been minimized through proper planning.
The Prime Minister said that the PTI-led previous government not only damaged country’s economy due to its wrong policies but also halted work on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said that reputation of the country was badly damaged due to negligence of the previous government.
He, however, said that with the constant hard work and help of the people of Pakistan his government will succeed in pulling the country out of current crises. Terming the construction of Tank Zam, Draban Zam and other dam’s imperative for food security of the country, he directed the concerned authorities to expedite work on these projects.
