Prime Minister Pushes for Rapid Completion of Housing Projects


Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued a directive for the expedited completion of low-cost housing projects, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with the private sector to boost investment.



According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister chaired a review meeting of housing projects under the Ministry of Housing and Works. During the meeting, he underscored the necessity for third-party validation in federal government housing projects and advocated for selecting construction companies with international standing through transparent and merit-based processes.



Additionally, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the reduction in corruption following the dissolution of the Pakistan Public Works Department (PWD) and other non-functional institutions. He highlighted ongoing reforms aimed at curbing corruption in low-cost housing projects.



The Prime Minister also called for a comprehensive plan from the Ministry of Housing to provide international standard facilities to the public. He urged for the National Housing Policy to be formulated and approved by March, and stressed the importance of constructing international standard hotels and hospitals to accommodate international visitors.



Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged the enhanced global perception of Pakistan, noting the return of international sports events and conferences to the country as evidence of improved national standing.
