Lahore: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that providing relief to citizens during challenging times remains the government’s top priority. Chairing a meeting in Lahore to assess the nation’s petroleum reserves and the government’s relief measures amid regional tensions, the Prime Minister reiterated that the administration is committed to supporting the public through austerity savings and targeted relief efforts aimed at economically vulnerable populations.

According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Sharif announced the initiation of subsidies via digital wallets for individuals using public transport and goods vehicles. This measure is part of a broader strategy to ensure subsidies are distributed efficiently and transparently to buses, wagons, trucks, and goods-carrying vehicles. During the session, the Prime Minister was updated on the implementation of relief measures designed to counteract the recent surge in petroleum product prices. Officials assured that the country’s petroleum reserves are sufficient to meet current demands.

In attendance at the meeting were Federal Ministers Attaullah Tarar, Dr. Musadik Malik, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Special Assistant Talha Burki, and other senior officials, who discussed ongoing and future strategies to alleviate economic pressures on the populace.
