Karachi: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday commended the Pakistan Navy for its effective deterrence and readiness during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, emphasizing its critical role in protecting maritime trade routes and maintaining national sovereignty.
At a gathering at the Pakistan Navy Dockyard, the Prime Minister highlighted the Navy’s strategic importance in countering maritime threats. He underscored the Navy’s preparedness, recalling its historical achievements and its ability to respond to potential aggressions, notably referencing the Indian Navy’s hesitance to engage in the 400 nautical miles zone due to Pakistan’s naval readiness.
Prime Minister Sharif also acknowledged the coordinated efforts of Pakistan’s armed forces, citing their precision and advanced technology in defense operations. He paid homage to the leadership of the military chiefs and honored the sacrifices of servicemen, including Lt. Yasir Shaheed.
The Prime Minister noted that despite regional tensions, Karachi Port and Qasim Port remained operational, while commercial activities on India’s western coast were disrupted. He stated this as a testament to the Navy’s impact on regional power dynamics.
In his address, he expressed gratitude to international leaders, including Turkish President Erdogan and US President Trump, for their diplomatic support during the crisis. He praised President Trump for his role in deescalating tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbors.
During his visit, Prime Minister Sharif was briefed on the Navy’s strategic initiatives and expressed the nation’s appreciation for the armed forces’ commitment to defense readiness. High-ranking government and military officials, including the Minister for Defence and the Chief of the Naval Staff, were present at the event.
