Prime Minister Pledges Enhanced Support for Local Languages and Cultures

Islamabad, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has announced the government’s commitment to further promote the local languages, literature, and cultures of all regions across the country. This declaration came as part of his congratulatory message on the occasion of Saraiki Culture and Saraiki Ajrak Day, emphasizing the unique beauty and richness of the Saraiki heritage.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister lauded the diversity and uniqueness of Saraiki Wasaib, highlighting the sweetness of the Saraiki language and its widespread usage not only in South Punjab but also in Balochistan and India. He noted the ancient roots of Saraiki culture and the Indus civilization, tracing back thousands of years, and acknowledged the significant contributions of Sufi saints like Hazrat Baha-ud-din Zakariya, Hazrat Shah Rukn-e-Alam, and others to the enrichment of the language and culture.

Sharif’s message reflects a broader government initiative to celebrate and elevate the civilization and culture of every region within the country, with a special focus on the development of South Punjab’s art and culture as a top priority. This commitment aims to foster a greater appreciation and understanding of Pakistan’s diverse cultural heritage, promoting unity and cohesion within the nation.
