Prime Minister of Pakistan to Attend Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan will travel to Egypt on October 13, 2025, to participate in the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit. The summit, initiated by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump, aims to address the ongoing situation in Gaza through a peace agreement.

The Prime Minister will be joined by the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister and other senior ministers during his visit. This development follows diplomatic efforts that began during the UN General Assembly’s 80th Session in New York last month.

On September 23, 2025, the Prime Minister, along with leaders from seven Arab-Islamic countries, met with President Trump to discuss peace strategies for Gaza. The countries involved, including Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Indonesia, and Türkiye, expressed support for Trump’s peace efforts through a joint statement.

Pakistan’s participation underscores its support for the Palestinian cause and aims to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region. The country hopes the summit will lead to Israeli withdrawal, protection for Palestinian civilians, and the addressing of humanitarian issues in Gaza.

Furthermore, Pakistan aspires to see efforts directed towards establishing an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, based on pre-1967 borders, aligned with UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
