New York: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif engaged in a pivotal discussion with Mr. Ajaypal Singh Banga, President of the World Bank Group, during a sideline meeting at the United Nations General Assembly. Accompanied by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, the Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan’s ongoing economic challenges and the critical support provided by the World Bank, particularly in areas of poverty reduction and infrastructure.
According to Press Information Department, the meeting highlighted the Prime Minister’s appreciation for the World Bank’s role in supporting the implementation of essential economic reforms in Pakistan. The discussion also covered the government’s recent initiatives across policy, administrative, and organizational reforms aimed at maximizing economic potential and fostering inclusive growth. Prime Minister Sharif detailed the reforms especially in the sectors of energy, finance, and revenue, expressing hope for continued and enhanced support from the World Bank for Pakistan’s renewed economic agenda.
Further, the Prime Minister underscored the need for innovative financing solutions to advance development projects related to water management, energy, and human development. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to achieving Pakistan’s development objectives, which align with Vision 2025 and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
