Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over the important review meeting regarding the Prime Minister Youth Loan Scheme 

Islamabad, February 10, 2023 (PPI-OT):The government is taking substantial steps to promote entrepreneurship and employment among the youth; Provision of loans to youth on easy terms is also being ensured: Prime Minister. Youth are the asset of Pakistan whose welfare is linked to the country’s development: Prime Minister. A Steering Committee headed by the Prime Minister has been established to evaluate the performance and speed of work of PM Youth Loan Scheme.

An important review meeting regarding the Prime Minister Youth Loans Scheme was held today under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. In the meeting, the performance of Prime Minister Youth Loan Scheme so far was reviewed.

While talking to the participants of the meeting, the Prime Minister said that the government is taking sufficient steps to promote entrepreneurship and employment among the youth and in this regard, provision of loans to the youth on easy terms is also being ensured. He further said that the youth population is the asset of Pakistan whose welfare is linked to the development of the country.

The Prime Minister further said that there is immense talent among Pakistani youth, the spirit of our talented youth is high, if resources are provided, and our youth can change the destiny of the country. He further said that the government and private sectors need to work in harmony so that the challenges faced by the country can be tackled together.

The Prime Minister directed to form a steering committee to check the performance and speed of work of PM Youth Loan Scheme, which will be chaired by the Prime Minister himself, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Ishaq Dar will also be included in the committee.

The meeting was told that the main objective of the Prime Minister Youth Loan Scheme is to promote entrepreneurship among the youth and create employment opportunities for them has done The meeting was further informed that the existing portal of PM Youth Loan Scheme was formally launched on 24 January 2023.

Under this scheme, people aged 18 to 45 years can get loans on easy terms within 45 days. In this scheme, 25 percent quota has been allocated for women. The meeting was further informed that by 30 June 2023, a target of providing loans of up to 30 billion rupees has been set under this scheme.

The heads of banks and microfinance institutions participating in the meeting assured to work on priority basis regarding the PM Youth Loan Scheme and to fulfill all the targets in this regard by the specified period. The Prime Minister issued instructions to fulfill the target of providing loans up to 30 billion rupees through the PM Youth Loan Scheme by June 30, 2023.

Apart from this, the Prime Minister emphasized to solve all the operational problems related to the PM Youth Loan Scheme on a priority basis and also established a committee in this regard in which the Minister of State for Finance Ayesha Ghos Pasha, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Youth Affairs.

Shaza Fatima, Federal Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, Federal Secretary for Poverty Alleviation and Social Security, Founder of Akhut Foundation Amjad Saqib, Governor State Bank of Pakistan, Presidents of National Rural Support Program, Bank of Punjab, Habib Bank Limited, Agricultural Development Bank Limited and Bank Al Falah. Ltd. will be included. Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Youth Affairs Shaza Fatima, Presidents and representatives of banks and microfinance institutions participated in the meeting.
