Lahore, In a message commemorating International Labor Day, Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif praised workers globally, describing them as “friends of Allah” and highlighting their crucial role in society’s development. She emphasized the importance of respecting workers’ rights and acknowledged the special contributions of women workers to their families and communities.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Prime Minister Sharif’s message stressed the Islamic values of dignity and respect for labor, particularly those who engage in honest, hard work. She paid homage to the historical labor movements, particularly the martyrs of Chicago, acknowledging their sacrifices for worker rights.
The Prime Minister also outlined her government’s commitment to improving the living standards of workers, ensuring they receive adequate wages, protection, and respect. She spoke about promoting a culture where every worker’s contributions are valued and recognized. Additionally, she announced plans to introduce the Occupational Safety Act, aimed at enhancing protections for workers across various industries.
This message reaffirms the government’s pledge to ensure that every infrastructure project, whether it be buildings, bridges, or highways, recognizes the indispensable contributions of workers, often marked by their immense effort and dedication.
