Islamabad, 12 Oct 2023:Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, emphasized the imperative nature of resolving the Kashmir dispute to establish peace in the South Asian region, citing it as the primary source of tension. During a meeting with OIC Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Jammu and Kashmir, Yousef M. Al Dobeay, Kakar voiced Pakistan’s dedication to resolving the Kashmir dispute peacefully and in alignment with the UN Security Council resolutions, according to a press release from the Kashmir Media Service.
Kakar appreciated the OIC delegation’s visit to Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir and applauded the OIC’s ongoing efforts in supporting the Kashmir cause, especially post India’s unilateral and illegal actions on 5 August 2019. Kakar conveyed that the people of Pakistan and Kashmir harbor high expectations of the OIC, recognizing the sacrifices of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir towards realizing their inalienable right to self-determination. The prime minister indicated that the Kashmiris have consistently sought support from the OIC and Ummah.
Kakar also raised serious concerns regarding the escalation of Islamophobia globally, particularly in the form of Hindutva, articulating that it poses a serious threat to global peace and security and called for heightened efforts to counteract these forces.
In response, Yousef M. Al Dobeay assured Kakar of OIC’s steadfast position on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, affirming that the OIC remains fully committed to the Kashmir cause.
