Prime Minister Engages in Strategic Dialogue with U.S. Secretary of State

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif engaged in a telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, where they discussed a range of bilateral and regional issues. The discussions included praise for President Donald Trump’s leadership, efforts to maintain peace between Pakistan and India, and the ongoing Iran-Israel crisis.

The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for President Trump’s leadership and Secretary Rubio’s diplomacy, which played a significant role in achieving a ceasefire between Pakistan and India. He emphasized the importance of initiating dialogue with India to address issues such as Jammu and Kashmir, the Indus Water Treaty, trade, and counter-terrorism.

The leaders also discussed the Iran-Israel crisis, with the Prime Minister advocating for a peaceful resolution through dialogue. He reiterated Pakistan’s readiness to contribute to peace efforts in the region.

On economic cooperation, the Prime Minister highlighted the need for collaboration in trade, investment, energy, and technology. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to counter-terrorism and appreciated U.S. support in this area.

Both leaders agreed on the importance of translating their discussions into tangible actions and emphasized the need for frequent high-level engagements. The Prime Minister extended invitations to President Trump and Secretary Rubio to visit Pakistan, aiming to strengthen bilateral relations.
