Islamabad, November 12, 2021 (PPI-OT):Prime Minister Imran Khan has emphasised on provision of urgent humanitarian assistance and economic support to Afghanistan to avert twin challenges of humanitarian crisis and economic collapse. He was talking to the Special Representatives and Envoys for Afghanistan of the Troika Plus, comprising China, Russia, United States and Pakistan, who called on him in Islamabad today [Friday].
Imran Khan hoped that the international community would recognize gravity of the situation and take urgent measures, including release of frozen assets to help alleviate the sufferings of Afghan people. He highlighted the crucial role of Troika Plus in this context. The Prime Minister urged the need to have a pragmatic approach and constructive engagement with Afghanistan to address mutual concerns and promote common interests of Troika Plus countries.
Imran Khan said he has consistently stressed that there is no military solution in Afghanistan. In the changed environment, the Prime Minister underscored the importance of inclusivity, respect of human rights, and resolute counter-terrorism actions.
