Peshawar: The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by key federal ministers and the Chief of Army Staff, Syed Asim Munir, visited Peshawar to address a Grand Jirga of tribal elders, emphasizing the need for unity against regional threats and cooperation with Afghanistan.
Upon arrival, the Prime Minister was welcomed by the Chief Minister and Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In his address, he commended the enduring sacrifices of the Pakhtun people and urged them to counter the Indian-sponsored Fitna-ul-Khawarij. He highlighted the need to expose its ideology and narrative.
The Prime Minister praised the military and law enforcement agencies for their dedication to preserving peace in the region. He assured that the Pakistan Army, alongside other security institutions, is committed to maintaining stability in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He emphasized the importance of regional cooperation, particularly with Afghanistan, to prevent the use of Afghan soil by Indian proxies. He called on the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to contribute positively to national cohesion.
The tribal elders expressed gratitude for the Armed Forces’ efforts, particularly their role in Operation Bunyanum Marsoos. The Grand Jirga was seen as a significant initiative in addressing regional challenges.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sharif laid a wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada in Peshawar Cantonment, with the Chief of Army Staff and Corps Commander Peshawar receiving him upon arrival.
