Prime Minister calls for promoting technical, vocational education

Islamabad, September 01, 2021 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Imran Khan has emphasized on the promotion of technical and vocational education to equip the youth with knowledge and expertise so that they can take benefit of existing opportunities. He was chairing a review meeting in Islamabad today (Wednesday) regarding promotion of higher education in the country and related matters.

The Prime Minister also directed to introduce a plan of reward and punishment regarding the education system and the universities so that effective implementation of government’s policies for the promotion of higher education can be ensured. He instructed to devise a strategy for best utilization of financial resources provided by the federation; besides ensuring higher standard of education in universities being run with the cooperation of the Federal Government in various provinces.

Imran Khan advised to review the scholarship programme of the Higher Education Commission for effective use of country’s resources. He directed to the authorities concerned to complete the ongoing projects for the promotion of higher education in Pakistan on priority basis. The meeting was apprised that 42 billion rupees have been allocated for the current fiscal year for HEC to implement its 168 projects. These projects include 128 ongoing projects of worth 29 billion rupees and 40 new projects worth 12 billion rupees.
