Karachi, Caretaker Prime Minister AnwaarulHaq Kakar has issued directives to expedite the rehabilitation of families impacted by the previous floods in Balochistan, emphasizing the urgent need for rebuilding their houses and restoring normalcy. These instructions were given during a highlevel meeting in Quetta today, focusing on reviewing the progress of administrative and developmental work in Balochistan.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting included comprehensive briefings on various sectors in Balochistan. Discussions covered the state of water reservoirs, housing construction, mineral development, communications, law and justice, fisheries, and other crucial sectors. A significant part of the briefing was dedicated to the reconstruction of infrastructure following the devastating floods in 2022.
Prime Minister Kakar stressed the importance of addressing the water supply issues in Balochistan as a matter of urgency. He emphasized that the wellbeing and future of the people in Balochistan are closely tied to the development and investment in the mining and mineral sector. In this regard, he was apprised of the ongoing efforts to regularize the mining sector in the province.
Additionally, the Prime Minister issued directives to enhance the transportation system across the country. He underscored the need for establishing a robust system for issuing and verifying safety certificates for vehicles, along with the creation of an effective database for vehicle licenses.
Another significant directive from the Prime Minister involved the formation of a special patrol force to combat illegal fishing along the country’s coasts. He advocated for the establishment of an effective patrolling force, comprising local people, to halt the operation of illegal trawlers, particularly in the Gwadar region.
These directives signify the government’s commitment to not only address the immediate challenges posed by natural disasters but also to focus on longterm structural improvements in various sectors. The emphasis on local involvement in patrolling and the emphasis on infrastructure and sectoral development underscore a holistic approach to provincial and national progress.
