Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar Stresses Protection of Minorities’ Rights in Pakistan

Karachi, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to safeguarding the rights and safety of minorities, in line with the nation’s constitutional guarantees. Speaking at a Christmas event in Islamabad, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of protecting places of worship for all faiths and highlighted the sanctity of religious diversity as a core value of the country.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Kakar cited historical precedents to underscore his message. He referenced the respect shown by Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) to a Christian delegation from Najran. Additionally, he recalled the visionary approach of Pakistan’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, particularly his emphasis on minority rights in his historic 11th August speech. Quaid-e-Azam’s address distinctly affirmed the rights of non-Muslim citizens to practice their faith and access their places of worship freely.

Prime Minister Kakar also spoke about the obligation to respect all prophets, from Adam (Peace Be Upon Him) to Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). He praised Quaid-e-Azam as a leader who anticipated the future, acknowledging his foresight in identifying and opposing the divisive ideology of Hindutva, which paved the way for the creation of an independent Muslim state.

In his speech, the Prime Minister highlighted the freedom of speech in Pakistan, stressing that propagation of hatred among citizens is not tolerated. He commended the Christian community’s contributions in education and healthcare sectors.

Moreover, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar reiterated the government’s unwavering dedication to promoting harmony, inclusivity, and the protection of minority rights in Pakistan. The Prime Minister concluded his address by extending Christmas greetings to the Christian community and participating in a cake-cutting ceremony to mark the occasion.
