Karachi, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, addressing the National Ulema Conference in Islamabad, emphasized the crucial role of Ulema in Pakistan’s anti-polio drive. He called upon the nation to ensure their children are vaccinated against polio, underscoring the collective responsibility to protect children from this debilitating virus.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister appreciated the Ulema’s efforts and sought their continued support in the government’s endeavor to eradicate polio from the country. He stressed the importance of learning from spiritual experience and condemned the notion that polio vaccines are un-Islamic, stating that moderation is a key characteristic of Muslims. The Prime Minister highlighted that polio poses a common threat to future generations.
Prime Minister Kakar also referred to the Quran and Sunnah as the best sources of guidance in this matter. He suggested that religious platforms should be utilized to spread awareness about the elimination of the polio virus from society.
In addition to discussing polio eradication, the Prime Minister spoke about the ongoing situation in Gaza, labeling the Israeli Prime Minister as a “butcher” responsible for the killing of innocent children. This statement reflects the Prime Minister’s stance on international issues, particularly the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The Prime Minister’s appeal to the Ulema and his call for national unity in the fight against polio demonstrate the government’s commitment to public health and the eradication of polio, alongside its engagement with pressing international humanitarian concerns.
