Prime Minister Advocates for Stronger Trade Ties with African and Southeast Asian Nations

Islamabad, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar called for an enhancement of trade and economic linkages with African countries, emphasizing the untapped potential in these sectors.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister expressed this resolve in a meeting with envoys from various African and selected Asian countries in Islamabad today. The meeting saw participation from ambassadors of Algeria and Sudan, high commissioners from Bangladesh, Brunei, Malaysia, Mauritius, and South Africa, and charge d’ affaires from Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, Somalia, Tunisia, and Zimbabwe.

Prime Minister Kakar stressed the importance Pakistan places on its relationships with Africa, advocating for strengthened ties at both bilateral and regional levels. He also recognized Pakistan’s historic connections with Southeast Asian countries, particularly Brunei, Indonesia, and Malaysia, and expressed an eagerness to expand trade relations with these nations. The Prime Minister also sought their support in enhancing Pakistan’s engagement with ASEAN.

The ongoing situation in Gaza was a significant topic of discussion. The Prime Minister called for dialogue among nations and the need for intensified collective efforts to end violence and achieve lasting peace in Palestine.

The diplomatic envoys were commended by the Prime Minister for their roles in fostering stronger ties between Pakistan and their respective countries. In turn, the diplomats thanked the Prime Minister and pledged to continue their collaborative efforts to improve bilateral relations.
