President Zardari Reaffirms Commitment to Women’s Rights on International Awareness Day


Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has reiterated his administration’s commitment to safeguarding women’s rights, emphasizing the need for a secure environment and the eradication of gender-based violence. This statement was made in observance of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Zardari highlighted the importance of education and skill development for women, underscoring the role of financial independence in empowering them. He stressed the urgency of raising awareness about women’s rights and called for collective action to address violence against women, a significant human rights challenge affecting one in three women globally.



President Zardari noted the dire need for immediate and collaborative efforts to tackle this issue, pointing out that thousands of women lose their lives annually due to violence. He also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, recognizing her as a staunch advocate for women’s rights who aspired to create a society free from exploitation and abuse.
