President Zardari Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthen Pakistan-Russia Partnership


ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to bolstering its partnership with Russia, emphasizing the benefits for both nations and the broader region. Speaking at a reception in Islamabad to commemorate Russia’s National Day, President Zardari extended congratulations to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the people of Russia.



According to Radio Pakistan, the President highlighted the historical ties between the two countries, acknowledging past efforts by leaders such as Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto, and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to strengthen these relations. President Zardari praised President Putin’s role in deepening the ties between Pakistan and Russia, which are based on mutual respect and shared interests.



The President noted the positive trajectory of bilateral relations, citing regular interactions between officials as evidence of growing momentum. He referred to remarks by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, characterizing the current period as the most favorable phase in decades for Pakistan-Russia relations.



President Zardari underscored Pakistan’s view of Russia as a global power and reliable partner, emphasizing shared commitments to equality and dialogue in international forums. He detailed expanding cooperation in sectors such as energy, industry, agriculture, and education, noting the presence of 1,300 Pakistani students in Russia as a testament to the growing ties.



The President expressed optimism for continued high-level engagements to further enhance economic cooperation and fully realize the potential of Pakistan-Russia relations.
