President Zardari Hails Historic US-Iran Agreement in Islamabad


Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has welcomed the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran, calling it a significant moment for regional and global stability.



According to Press Information Department, President Zardari highlighted the conflict that began in February 2026, which caused significant suffering and disrupted global energy supplies and trade. He expressed hope that such conflicts would not recur and urged nations to focus on development and prosperity.



The President praised Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi for their diplomatic efforts in facilitating the agreement. He emphasized Pakistan’s balanced role during the crisis, advocating for dialogue and peaceful dispute resolution.



Acknowledging international efforts, President Zardari commended the leadership of President Donald Trump, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, President Masoud Pezeshkian, and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in achieving a diplomatic resolution. He also recognized the support of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Egypt, Russia, and China in fostering dialogue.



President Zardari urged all parties to implement the memorandum fully and work towards a final agreement to ensure lasting peace. He expressed optimism that the memorandum would lay the foundation for enduring peace and economic cooperation in the region, emphasizing the importance of peace for progress.
