Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari has issued directives to the Federal Insurance Ombudsman (FIO) to expedite and provide cost-free resolution for aggrieved insurance policyholders, focusing on improving the efficiency and accessibility of services to the public.
According to Press Information Department, during a meeting at Aiwan-e-Sadr with the newly-appointed Federal Insurance Ombudsman, Mr. Mumtaz Ali Shah, President Zardari emphasized the need for the FIO to broaden its reach and streamline complaint processes to ensure timely monetary relief for citizens. The President also stressed the importance of raising public awareness about the FIO’s role in adjudicating insurance claims and suggested the integration of modern technology and ICT tools to enhance the efficiency of handling complaints.
Mumtaz Ali Shah, who took the oath of office earlier that day, brings a wealth of experience to his new role as FIO. Having retired from the Pakistan Administrative Service in March 2022 after serving as the Sindh Chief Secretary, Shah is expected to bring significant improvements to the operations of the FIO under the President’s guidance.
