President Zardari Calls for National Campaign to Combat Heart Disease


Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized the importance of a national campaign to prevent cardiovascular diseases in Pakistan, focusing on public education about healthy lifestyle choices. The President shared these views during a meeting with the Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH), where they discussed strategies to combat the rising incidence of heart-related illnesses.



According to Press Information Department, the discussion with PANAH, led by its President Major General (retd) Masud-ur-Rehman, highlighted the critical need for a comprehensive Heart and Non-Communicable Diseases prevention program. President Zardari called for the enforcement of health advisories that would inform the public about the sugar content in carbonated and sugary beverages.



The delegation briefed the President on PANAH’s ongoing efforts to educate the public on the risks of heart disease and to provide essential training in recognizing and responding to cardiac arrest with Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). PANAH has also been active in supporting victims of natural disasters and offering medical assistance to needy patients and children.



President Zardari commended PANAH for its dedication to improving cardiac health across the nation and assured them of his complete support in these endeavors.
