President Zardari Calls for Enhanced Mental Health Support on World Mental Health Day


Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari, in a statement to mark World Mental Health Day, emphasized the significance of listening to those who have faced mental health challenges and integrating their insights into policy-making to drive substantial change.



According to Press Information Department, President Zardari extended his greetings to the people of Pakistan, with particular focus on individuals living with mental health conditions, their families, caregivers, and mental health professionals. He underscored the theme of this year’s observance, “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change,” advocating for a society where mental health support is accessible and free from stigma.



In his message, President Zardari highlighted the necessity of mental health as a component of national development and human dignity. He acknowledged the ongoing efforts by health professionals, civil society organizations, and communities to integrate mental health into primary healthcare and broader social development strategies. The President called for continued commitment to mental health services, especially for vulnerable groups, including children, women, and those affected by adversity.



The President urged all stakeholders to progress from awareness to concrete actions, stressing the importance of community-based services and the inclusion of mental health in universal health coverage. He called for a future where every individual in Pakistan is respected, heard, and has access to the mental health resources they need.
