President Zardari Assures Support to A.Q. Khan Hospital Trust During Islamabad Meeting


Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has pledged his support to the Abdul Qadeer Khan Hospital Trust, a healthcare organization that offers free medical services to underprivileged communities. During a meeting at Aiwan-e-Sadr, the President commended the Trust’s efforts in providing accessible healthcare and addressed various challenges faced by the organization, including financial misconduct by former trustees.



According to Press Information Department, the meeting included discussions led by Dr. Dina Khan, Chairperson of the Trust and daughter of the late Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan, who briefed President Zardari on the hospital’s operations and its pivotal role in community health. The delegation also featured notable trustees and advisors, including Mr. Habib-ur-Rehman, Raja Arshad Mehmood, and Chaudhry Ghulam Yasir Abbas, with Ms. Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, MNA, in attendance.



The discussion highlighted significant issues like financial embezzlement by former trustees which have undermined the Trust’s operations. President Zardari assured that the problems would be attentively addressed, acknowledging the nation’s debt to Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan for his contributions. He praised the public’s generous donations that support the Trust’s mission to provide essential healthcare services free of charge to the needy.
