Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has officially appointed Supreme Court Judge Justice Yahya Afridi as the Chief Justice of Pakistan, with his term set to begin on October 26 for a duration of three years. The appointment, carried out under Articles 175A (3), 177, and 179 of the Constitution, was confirmed through a notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the announcement marks a significant appointment within Pakistan’s judiciary. Justice Yahya Afridi, who will serve as the Chief Justice for the next three years, is expected to bring extensive experience and leadership to the Supreme Court during his tenure.
