Islamabad: On the solemn occasion of Ashura, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif delivered messages urging the nation to embrace unity, tolerance, and resilience, drawing lessons from the historic sacrifice at Karbala.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Zardari emphasized the importance of unity against forces of cruelty and evil, reflecting on the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions who fought for Islamic values and the rights of the Ummah. He highlighted the contemporary struggles of Kashmiris and Palestinians, likening their hardships to the trials faced at Karbala, and called for support towards these communities in their fight for justice and freedom.
Prime Minister Sharif, in his message, stressed the need for equality, tolerance, and discipline to counter both internal and external threats to Pakistan. He urged the nation to set aside racial, professional, and linguistic differences to strengthen national cohesion. Sharif also drew parallels to the perseverance and sacrifices of the people in Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, urging inspiration from their resilience against oppression.
Both leaders advocate for a renewed commitment to the values of hard work, justice, and the welfare of the needy, as taught by the martyrs of Karbala.
