Islamabad, In a recent meeting with Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr Reza Amiri Moghadam, President Asif Ali Zardari called for the enhancement of barter trade and economic relations between Pakistan and Iran. This move is aimed at tapping into the full potential of bilateral economic cooperation and addressing shared challenges.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during the discussion in Islamabad, President Zardari expressed his desire to fortify the long-standing relationship between the two nations. The President’s dialogue with Ambassador Moghadam centered on the mutual benefits of increased trade and economic integration, with specific emphasis on the advantages of the Chahbahar-Zahedan railroad project, which promises to facilitate trade between Pakistan, Central Asia, Europe, and Turkiye.
Ambassador Moghadam acknowledged the strengthening ties between Pakistan and Iran and stressed the importance of expanding bilateral trade volume, banking cooperation, and air and business linkages. The meeting also served as an opportunity for the Iranian Ambassador to extend congratulations to President Zardari on his leadership role, expressing optimism for a future of increased collaboration under his guidance, along with conveying greetings from Iranian President Dr Ebrahim Raisi.
The discussion underscored a shared commitment to nurturing the Pak-Iran relationship, with both sides eager to explore new avenues for economic and trade cooperation to mutual benefit.
