SANYA: President Asif Ali Zardari, presently in China’s Hainan province, engaged in a telephone conversation with Iraq’s Prime Minister-designate, Ali Falih Khadim Al-Zaidi, to discuss enhancing economic relations between Pakistan and Iraq. The President extended congratulations to Al-Zaidi on his appointment and expressed optimism for a stable government under his leadership.
According to Radio Pakistan, Zardari emphasized the existing relationship between Pakistan and Iraq, rooted in shared values and mutual respect. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, highlighting opportunities for expanded economic engagement in various sectors, including trade, investment, energy cooperation, infrastructure, agriculture, and renewable energy.
The discussion also touched on the importance of academic collaboration and cultural exchanges to foster a long-term partnership. In response, the Prime Minister-designate expressed gratitude for the President’s warm wishes and extended an invitation for Zardari to visit Iraq at a convenient time.
