Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari has proposed the creation of “technology highways” to enhance the technological landscape of Pakistan’s education sector. During a meeting today with Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, Vice Chancellor of Quaid-i-Azam University in Islamabad, the President discussed initiatives to expand IT infrastructure and provide greater access to technological resources for students.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Zardari emphasized the need to distribute laptops to students to increase educational access, bridge the digital divide, and equip them with essential technological skills. He underscored the importance of integrating modern technology into education to prepare Pakistani youth for the competitive global market.
The President also suggested that top achievers at Quaid-i-Azam University be rewarded with Presidential Awards, which include cash prizes, to motivate academic excellence. He acknowledged the university’s significant contributions to the academic sector in Pakistan and assured the Vice Chancellor of his continued support, particularly in addressing financial issues faced by the institution.
Vice Chancellor Akhtar briefed the President on the university’s various educational programs and administrative affairs, highlighting its role in fostering quality education in Pakistan. The discussion reflected a concerted effort by the government to prioritize technological advancement in education as a key strategy for national development.
