Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and the United Kingdom, focusing on economic and trade ties for mutual benefit. These remarks were made during a meeting with the British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Ms. Jane Marriott, at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
According to Press Information Department, the discussion covered various aspects of the longstanding friendly relationship between the two nations, including economic collaboration and people-to-people contacts. President Zardari conveyed his regards to His Majesty King Charles III and the Princess of Wales, reflecting the high esteem in which the British monarchy is held in Pakistan.
During the meeting, President Zardari outlined the economic priorities of Pakistan, with emphasis on employment generation and poverty alleviation. He also addressed the significant challenge of climate change facing Pakistan, highlighting the country’s vulnerability and efforts in environmental sustainability, particularly through the mangrove forests in Sindh and the potential of solar and wind energy to fulfill energy needs.
Ms. Jane Marriott, in turn, congratulated President Zardari on his presidency, reinforcing the diplomatic discourse between the two countries aimed at fostering stronger bilateral cooperation.
