President Zardari Advocates for Dialogue to Resolve AJK Tensions


Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari called for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing issues in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) through dialogue and mutual consultation, during discussions with a delegation from the AJK Legislative Assembly on Sunday.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting included members from the Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians and focused on recent developments and challenges in AJK. President Zardari urged all stakeholders, including political parties, state institutions, and the people of AJK, to act responsibly to prevent the situation from being exploited by hostile forces.



The President committed to discussing AJK’s grievances with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, aiming to develop effective solutions. He also stressed the importance of prioritizing socio-economic development in AJK, with specific attention to health, education, tourism, and infrastructure to uplift the region to the standards of more developed areas of the country.



Furthermore, President Zardari expressed his sorrow over the recent death of a police officer in AJK and extended his condolences to the bereaved, hoping for a swift recovery for others injured in recent clashes.
