President Zardari Advocates Enhanced Pakistan-UAE Relations


Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari has called for an intensification of the cooperative relationship between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates, emphasizing sectors such as trade, aviation, energy, and human resources. These remarks were made during a dialogue with the UAE’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al-Zaabi, at Aiwan-e-Sadr.



According to Press Information Department, President Zardari highlighted the potential for expanding aviation collaboration to better serve the Pakistani community in the UAE, suggesting the introduction of Airbus A380 commercial flights. He encouraged Emirati investment in the Pakistan Stock Exchange, citing opportunities for economic growth and innovation. On environmental initiatives, the President shared Pakistan’s progress in mangrove forest investment and carbon credit trading, proposing a bilateral benefit in these endeavors, particularly in agricultural advancements and technology exchange amid climate challenges.



Ambassador Al-Zaabi reiterated the UAE’s dedication to Pakistan’s development, advocating for a strategic elevation of the countries’ relationship with a focus on economic diplomacy. He expressed interest from major UAE firms in investing across various Pakistani sectors, including energy and healthcare. Additionally, Al-Zaabi highlighted the UAE’s commitment to climate support, mentioning a $100 million pledge to aid vulnerable nations, from which Pakistan could benefit.



In their exchange, the President acknowledged the deep-seated bond with the UAE, expressing gratitude for the UAE leadership’s warm relations and mutual interest in strengthening bilateral ties. The meeting concluded with an exchange of good wishes and an accepted invitation for President Zardari to visit the UAE, signifying a mutual desire to advance diplomatic and economic relations.
