Islamabad, March 09, 2023 (PPI-OT): President Dr Arif Alvi has underlined the need for increasing trade and economic cooperation with Tanzania for the mutual benefit of the two countries. He said that Pakistan greatly valued its ties with Tanzania and wanted to further boost economic and cultural ties with Tanzania.
The President stated this while talking to Pakistan’s High Commissioner-designate to Tanzania, Mr Siraj Ahmad Khan, who called on him, at Aiwan-e-Sadr, today. During the meeting, the President emphasized the need for high level political and cultural exchanges to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
He asked the High-Commissioner-designate to work for further strengthening the institutional capacity building support extended by Pakistan to Tanzania over the last five decades for the training of Tanzanian diplomats, bankers, railways and postal services.
The President expressed the hope that the newly-appointed envoy would facilitate Pakistani diaspora in Tanzania and would work for promoting bilateral trade and people-to-people contacts between the two countries. He said that Pakistan was offering online education and the students from Tanzania could benefit of the cost- effective virtual learning system of Pakistan.
He added that 8000 foreign students from different countries were already enrolled in various distance-learning educational programmes being offered by the Virtual University of Pakistan. The President congratulated Mr Siraj Ahmad Khan on his appointment as Pakistan’s High Commissioner-designate to Tanzania and expressed the hope that he would play his role to further improve bilateral cooperation with Tanzania.
