Islamabad, August 06, 2021 (PPI-OT):President Dr. Arif Alvi has emphasized the need for enhanced economic and cultural relations between Norway and Pakistan. He said that both countries had huge potential to boost trade and economic cooperation for the mutual benefits of the two sides. He made these remarks while talking to the outgoing Ambassador of Norway to Pakistan, Mr. Kjell-Gunnar Eriksen, who called on him, at Aiwan-e-Sadr, today.
Talking to the Ambassador, the President said that Norway had been a strong partner for investment, trade and development cooperation. He added that the presence of a large number of Norwegian companies in Pakistan was a testimony to growing trade relations between the two countries. He said that the collaboration between Nizam Energy and Norwegian Scatec Solar to build Solar Plant in Sukkur was a positive development that would encourage more Norwegian companies and investors to take benefit of the investors-friendly environment of Pakistan.
The President also highlighted the brutalities being committed by the belligerent neighbour in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ and K) against the Muslim population. He emphasized that the international community needed to fulfil its commitment to grant the people of Kashmir their right to self-determination in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolutions.
The President thanked the Norwegian Government for restoring and conserving the historical heritage in Lahore. He congratulated Mr. Kjell-Gunnar Eriksen on completion of his tenure as Ambassador and appreciated his efforts in promoting relations between the two countries in all fields, particularly in economic and cultural sectors by establishing linkages with the government officials as well as private sectors.
