Islamabad, President Dr. Arif Alvi emphasized the importance of raising awareness and effectively implementing the Zainab Alert Response and Recovery Agency (ZARRA) Act to protect children. He advocated for enhanced coordination and information sharing among various stakeholders, including the police in all provinces and ZARRA, to facilitate the timely recovery of missing and abducted children.
According to Ministry of Human Rights, the President expressed these concerns while chairing a meeting on the implementation of the Zainab Alert Response and Recovery Act 2020 at Aiwan-e-Sadr. The meeting was attended by key officials including the Secretary of the Ministry of Human Rights, Mr. Allah Dino Khowaja, IG ICT, Additional IGs from Sindh, Balochistan, KPK, Punjab Police, NGO representatives, and senior government officials.
The Secretary of Human Rights presented detailed information on the ZARRA Act, 2020, reporting that 2246 cases of missing children had been filed since 2020. He outlined the progress in the Act’s implementation, including established coordination mechanisms with police, maintenance of data on the PM portal, and the launch of the ZARRA Android app.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to develop a training module for police officers at district and community levels. The aim is to educate and sensitize them for prompt action in the early recovery of missing children, thereby strengthening the national response to child abduction and ensuring the safety of children across Pakistan.
