President Asif Zardari Advocates for New University, Citing Bulleh Shah’s Teachings to Foster Peace and Unity


Islamabad: In a significant push to promote intercultural dialogue and respect, President Asif Ali Zardari has proposed the establishment of the Bulleh Shah International Peace University. This announcement was made during the 267th Urs celebration of Sufi poet Baba Bulleh Shah in Qasur, where the President’s message emphasized the continuing relevance of Bulleh Shah’s work in fostering understanding and peace across diverse communities.



According to Press Information Department, President Zardari’s message highlighted Baba Bulleh Shah’s profound impact on Pakistan’s cultural and spiritual identity. The President noted that Bulleh Shah’s poetry, known for its deep metaphors and wisdom, has the power to inspire current and future generations to look beyond societal divisions in search of truth and harmony. In alignment with these values, the President has recommended the creation of a new educational institution dedicated to the principles espoused by Bulleh Shah, and has forwarded this proposal to the Prime Minister for prompt consideration.



The proposed Bulleh Shah International Peace University aims to be a beacon of peace and humanistic studies, reflecting Bulleh Shah’s lifelong commitment to the ideals of love, peace, and human dignity. The President expressed his hope that the university would help preserve and promote these teachings and serve as a center for dialogue and understanding among various communities.



In his address, President Zardari urged all Pakistanis to embody the ethos of Bulleh Shah in their daily lives, advocating for unity and empathy in a world often characterized by division. The establishment of this university is envisioned as a step forward in bridging gaps and building a more inclusive society.
