Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has given his approval to two significant bills concerning overseas Pakistanis and deposit protection, marking a pivotal development in legislative measures aimed at these sectors. The President’s assent to “The Establishment of Special Court (Overseas Pakistanis Property) Bill, 2024” and “The Deposit Protection Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2024” underscores the government’s commitment to addressing issues faced by overseas citizens and enhancing financial security.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the President exercised his powers under Article 75 of the Constitution to approve the bills. This legislative action is expected to provide a legal framework for resolving property disputes involving overseas Pakistanis and to strengthen the mechanisms for protecting depositors in financial institutions.
In addition to the legislative approvals, President Zardari also confirmed the appointment of Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi as a member of the Council of Islamic Ideology, a body responsible for providing legal advice to the government on Islamic issues.
