Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have expressed strong condemnation following an attack on a government vehicle convoy in the Bagan area of Lower Kurram. Both leaders have vowed to intensify efforts to eradicate terrorism in the country.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Zardari emphasized the necessity of decisive action against those attempting to undermine peace in Kurram. He called on the public to resist any attempts by these elements to advance their objectives. The President reiterated his commitment to eliminating terrorism nationwide.
Prime Minister Sharif, in his statement, described the attack as an attempt to derail a peace agreement. He labeled those disrupting law and order as adversaries of humanity and asserted that they will not prevail in their efforts. The Prime Minister reaffirmed his dedication to combating terrorism and expressed hopes for the swift recovery of Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Mehsud and others injured in the incident.
The Deputy Commissioner sustained injuries when unidentified assailants fired upon the district administration vehicle leading a relief convoy organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. Following the attack, he was airlifted to Peshawar from Alizai for medical treatment.
