Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring women’s involvement in water management and decision-making processes, emphasizing access to clean water as a fundamental human right. Their statements were issued on World Water Day, highlighting the nation’s focus on water-related issues.
According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari urged India to fully implement the Indus Waters Treaty in line with its international obligations, expressing concern over the weaponization of shared water resources. Prime Minister Sharif outlined the government’s reform measures under the National Water Policy aimed at securing water resources for future generations. He stated that Pakistan remains resolute in safeguarding its water rights on a global scale and condemned any acts of water aggression.
