President and Prime Minister Advocate for Environmental Protection on Earth Day

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have called for robust initiatives to safeguard the planet’s natural resources, underscoring the importance of a sustainable environment for future generations. Their statements were made in separate messages commemorating International Mother Earth Day.

According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship. He urged citizens, communities, and institutions to contribute by planting trees, reducing plastic waste, and adopting sustainable practices. President Zardari highlighted the duty to ensure a cleaner, greener Pakistan for future generations.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif noted Pakistan’s vulnerability to climate change, reinforcing the country’s determination to protect natural resources. He pointed to increasing climate extremes as evidence of environmental change. Prime Minister Sharif stated that the government is actively working to combat climate change through efforts like promoting renewable energy and conserving natural resources.
