Islamabad, President Dr. Arif Alvi has underscored the importance of embracing modern agricultural technologies and effective decision-making as essential tools to address the challenges posed by global warming.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, while addressing the Regional Dialogue 2024 on “Climate Crisis: Shaping South Asia’s Resilience” organized by the Institute of Regional Studies in Islamabad, President Alvi highlighted Pakistan’s rich resources in water and renewable energy. He stressed the urgent need for a driving force to implement decisions and strategies that would enable Pakistan to compete globally.
President Alvi noted Pakistan’s abundant water resources, amounting to approximately 150 million acre-feet, and advocated for the adoption of modern agricultural techniques such as spray and drip irrigation to replace traditional flood irrigation methods. He emphasized that implementing the national water policy, relevant legislation, and establishing a pricing mechanism could significantly contribute to water conservation in the country.
